What Substrate Is

What fills a pot has four jobs: hold air, hold water, anchor the plant, and hold nutrients between feedings. Nine short lessons and one afternoon with a measuring cup take you from buying whatever bag is on the shelf to knowing what's in your pot and why it behaves the way it does.
0 of 9 lessons complete
- I The four jobs of a substrate ~7 min
- II Particles and pores ~10 min
- III pH, the gatekeeper ~10 min
- IV The minerals, and the buffer ~10 min
- V The organic ingredients ~9 min
- VI The mineral ingredients ~9 min
- VII Mixes age ~8 min
- VIII Reading a bag, reading a recipe ~10 min
- IX The mental model ~10 min + field exercise
